Research Report Real European Sports Model - RESM

This document is the result of extensive research carried out on over a hundred European texts, field surveys and discussions with leaders of European associations/organisations on which sports model best represents the entire world of sport in all its varied facets and values.

The European Sports Model (the pyramid model) assumes that grassroots and elite sport are linked by mechanisms of financial solidarity and top-down power relations. Nevertheless, the main observation underlying this research is that the ESM does not holistically capture the way in which most sports are organised and the way in which European citizens engage in physical activity.
